Where our name comes from

Athenassa is a name that means everything to us. It’s inspired by two very special things: Athena, the name of our founder Hollie’s daughter, and anassa - which means “queen” in ancient Greek, a fitting name for a brand created to honour women, their stories, and their strength. Athenassa is more than just a name. It’s a tribute to new life, motherhood, and the beauty of beginnings.

A note from our Founder, Hollie

“I’ve always believed that jewellery is more than just something you wear. It’s emotional, it’s a reminder, a marker, a celebration.

I started Athenassa while I was pregnant with my second child. I wanted something special to mark the moment, but I couldn’t find anything that felt just right: beautiful, well made, and meaningful without the designer price tag.

So I sketched my own. That first design became the Mamma necklace, and the beginning of something so much bigger.

Now, as a mother of two and a lifelong fashion lover, I pour my heart into every collection we create. Athenassa is still a small business, but it’s built on big dreams, strong values, and a deep belief in celebrating women through jewellery that lasts.”
